Final Table 1st Break

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Two go busto so seven left. I am at 1,125,000 chips. A little below average but not the short stack either. Guaranteed $97,000 at this point.

Day 3 First Break

Monday, June 29, 2009

What a roller coater. First hand I sit down I jam ATs from the button and get blinds. Very next hand I pick up JJ and cram again for blinds.

Then we hit 27 left for the redraw and I got Alex Jacobs table. I made one steal one resteal and then lost when I pushed A6 from the big blind in to 66 in the small.

About five hands later Alex jams about eight big blinds from under the gun and I reship over top with 88. He tables 22 I hold and he goes home.

I am at about 380,000 now so I need another double up soon to get back to average.

16 left so 6 more until the final table.

ONE TIME!

Final Day

After buffet and a chair massage I am ready for what will hopefully be one last twelve hour day.

Time to do the double up dance. Ship the bracelet.

End of Day Two

Well I will be making the third and final day. That's the good news. The bad news is I am hurting.

There are 30 pepole left and the average is 417,000. I have 211,000.

Blinds will be 16000/8000/1000 in the morning.

Basically I will be in need of a double up pretty early in the day. The final table for event 51 will be a tv table so if I make top 9 its ESPN time.

Run good one more session please!

Cards in the air at 1PM vegas time.

Day 2 Fourth Break

50 left and the average stack is 251,000. I have just a touch over 300,000 so still looking well.

Day Two Third Break

Good two levels but should have been better. I stacked QQ with my AA but then I doubled up a 40,000 guy when he shoved A9 and I reship AK. Flopped a 9.

I have 185,000 the average is 130,000.

82 players remain.

Day 2 Second Break

Sunday, June 28, 2009

133 people left average stack is 94,000. I had a little bit of a slow session chipped up to 150,000. I think I am chip leader at my table but there is a 140,000 stack the seat on my right and a 130,000 three seats to my right.

Let's keep running good.

By the way

PS: No matter how this ends up this is the most fun I have had in my life.

First Break

Chipped up to a little north of 130,000. The AA hand have me a lot of respect and my table is letting me chip up the blinds a lot. A 140,000 stack sat the seat to my right but he is playing pretty tight ABC.

The board says 250 remain with a 52,000 average stack but the payout queue is building and I think we are probably more like 225.

The next ten hours is where the real money is decided.

Big Pot

AA hold against AQ. North of 100,000 currently hand for hand. 5 until money.

No electronic devices allowed once in the money.

Day 2

Fifteen minutes until cards are in the air for day two and I am very happy with my table draw. I found the table online and the closest stack to me has only 41,000 at my table. This is a huge win and means I can apply pressure on the bubble. Most of these guys almost surely went to bed thinking they are about to cash and don't want to ruin that.

I looked up the online guy from my table yesterday and he is probably the best player left in the field with over $1 million in cashes and has only played since 2004. He took second in event 39 last year. Good read to stay out of his way as I am sure he is planning to bulldoze the bubble.

We are supposed to play down to the final table today but in the past they usually call it a day at about 3am with 18 left or so.

Ton of work to do to get there though still over 300 left. Gonna have to keep running well. 34th in chips right now.

End of Day 1

357 left pays top 297. 2900 entered. Chip count 72,900. Average is 30,900.

Ran like god one time! Flopped trips got some chips in on flop and then all in on turn against a flush. I quaded out on him on the river. Gotta win one your behind I guess, I did have some outs and he wouldn't have come close to stacking me but its still huge.

Then I got moved to a new table with an internet pro with 100,000 to my left. So much for my plan to crush the bubble. I found out we get new seats for day two so I just turned in to super nit for the last hour. Just no reason to fuck with that guy immediately on my left. Hopefully I get a little better draw for tomorrow.

Cards in the air at 2pm time to get some sleep.

Oh Yeah

Oh, also. Sickest thing I have ever seen in my poker career. A guy was left with 50 chips at 200/400 with a 75 ante. He went from two thirds of one ante to 15,000! That was my old table and we just broke up but he now has a good chance from going 50 chips to $2000 or more.

Oh and he was the worst player at the table. Lost his stack calling a raise with A8s and calling the cram on the flop with ace high.

Final Break of Day 1

Chipped up a little to 40,000 at the last break of day 1. Made a couple 3bet resteals and stacked off a couple shorties. Just sat down at new table only played four hands there but it looks pretty standard/easy.

I am a little bit abov average, 600 of the 2900 field remain I think it pays top 297. I am really going for the big money though so I can't be upset if I bubble.

Two more hours of poker and get to call it a night.

Dinner Break

Saturday, June 27, 2009

I lost a race for 14k a guy decides to limp KK and I join with J8s from the button. Flop give me top pair with a flush draw and he gladly in with me on the flop I miss everything. What I had was the only thing I can show up there with that doesn't crush him to two outs.

I stacked two shorties getting in way ahead and head to dinner at about 28,000.

Above average and definitely happy although the 42k chipstack would have been nice.

90 min off and then back to the grind.

Sent from my BlackBerry mobile device

Second break

40% of day one complete at 17,000. If I make it ten more hands I beat last weeks performance. :)

I feel a lot more confident and calm this time so I don't think I will spew off an above average stack again. Won a lot of hands without showdown this session and had AA hold against QQ to send one packing.

Two hours til dinner break.

First Break

First of all lol wtf I should be out. I raise with AA and guy calls preflop. Flop T82 I lead he minraises, I call. Turn is K no flush draws. I check he bets I make a committing raise and he shows me his T8 hero fold.

Start at 4500 at 5900 now so about average I would assume.

Second Chance

Taking seat for Event 51 now. It was sold out when I got here an hour ago so good thing I preregistered. Maybe I can make something happen.

Bust

Saturday, June 20, 2009

Instant bust after break. Raise from the button and both blinds call. I end up folding they get all in set versus top pair gutshot straight flush draw. Next hand I raise AT from cutoff and big blind 3bets. He knew. What he was doing so I figured there was a great chance he was on resteal. I made a committing four bet and he goes all in so I know I have three out now. He shows KK I miss gg.

2nd Break

Got dinged pretty hard right before break. Got moved to a new table and it was looking pretty promising.

Raised AQ early position and got called from the blind. We flop comes 443 and we both check. Turn is J he leads out 800 I make it 2000. River is a T he checks, I go 5000 leaving him 2000 or so if he wants to call. He contemplates a bit and calls with 77. He tells me you can't bluff a calling station. My thoughts exactly lol.
Summary: About halfway through field above average at 13500. Blinds 100/200/25.

Win Race

Previously ID'd donk raises early position I reraise Ak. Folds back to him he insta shoves 3500 more. I proclaim I guess we are off to the races and call. He tables 88 flop brings an A in the window to send him home. 20k and chip leader at table. Let's keep running well.
--------------------------
Sent from my BlackBerry mobile device

First Break

Mostly a foldfest for the next hour or so. Only notable hand was I raised AK from late position and got three bet by a solid aggressive player from big blind. I asked to see his chips, shipped on him, and he paused for about ten seconds before mucking, visually frustrated.

A hand reporter came up and asked me and the Asian lady to my left about a pot we played, so I think she might be important.

I am third in chips, the two bigger stack to my right and both massive fish. Both got in for their stacks with weak top pairs and dodged massive draws. Definitely like to see donks win races against the stiffer tablemates.

Time to run good and win some flips. Eight more poker hours until Day 2.

Summary: 4500 start stack currently at 11800. Third in chips at table. 100/200 blinds after break.

Table Captain

So chip leader at my table with maniac image. Perfect start. Time to tighten up.

Sent from my BlackBerry mobile device

Nice Start - Sick Bluff

Chip stack took small hit early on. Raised a flop bet with top pair and opponent open shoved the turn which completed a flush and straight.

A few hands later I add 50% to stack with AA. I three bet per call flop ship turn he mucks.

Then the sick bluff. I call a raise w QT and flop 9J4. He bet I call. Turn A he bet I call. River is A. He puts in 1500 with 1500 behind. I ship in, he mucks and I table the bluff.

WSOP Event #39

Friday, June 19, 2009

My first (of 2) WSOP Event is tomorrow, $1500 buyin, no limit holdem, Event #39. Should see about a 2500 person field. It will actually be the first poker I have played in Vegas fwiw. I was planning to get some warmup cash in, especially since haven't played any sort of live for a while now. I think it will be ok though, I am not really feeling much of anything right now, so I don't think the "omg $1500 buyin" is going to throw me off any. As long as I am prepared to deal with the tediously slow pace of a live event vs multiple tables online.

Cards are supposed to be in the air around 1PM, and I plan to post updates via phone to this page as notable things happen, so check back! Feel free to text me also, it is nice to hear from people.

Cool Shit

Haven't really seen anything around in Vegas that was worth dropping dough on until I saw this... This was just absolutely wicked.

There was a small crowd gathered around a tent so I walked over to see what was up. There is this dude dual wielding spray cans and just covering this paper in paint. On display in front of his little stand are just some insane works of art. Some are trippy outdoor nature scenes and others are night shots of the Vegas skyline. I am thinking there is no way the painting this guy is making now will turn out that good.

We watch for a while as he sprays paint everywhere. Swapping cans in and out rapidly, occasionally grabbing a sheet of paper, spraying paint on that, taking tissue paper, dabbing stuff, grabbing putty knives, smearing stuff. About 8 minutes later of frenzied, seemingly chaotic work, he carves his name and shows the small gathering a masterpiece. I am still in disbelief.

Spray paint, computer paper, tissues, knives, bare hands, ten minutes. WTF.

I asked how much these things were fully expecting them to cost about $100. His partner dude said $39. I bought two. An awesome moon/waterfall landscape, and then one of the Mirage he made for me by request. Best $80 spend in Vegas.

Heading over to the Rio soon to confirm my pre-registration and check the place out.

Nothing too exciting so far...

Well I ended up getting to Harrahs at about 1am Pacific on Wednesday. I had a "Deluxe" room booked, and once we checked in we were sent to our room on the 5th floor. As soon as we walk in I check to make sure the room has "Dual Plasmas", and sure enough, no bathroom TV and a giant tube in the room. Instantly call front desk and find out they put me in a standard room. They said Expedia did not forward the information, which is funny because I called 3 days before and that morning to verify my room arrangements. Nice try Harrahs. The hotel manager quickly corrected the room arrangements and seemed somewhat apologetic over it. So that night all we really did was unpack.

My friend Jordan is with me for the first 3 nights, and wasn't really interested in long poker sessions. So on Thursday we did mostly exploration/Vegas touristy stuff. We checked out most of the strip, had a lunch buffet at Treasure Island which was very impressive for only $16. Then, we decided to basically get sauced and play craps for most of the rest of the night. I was a little worried because I am not here for table games, and I kinda have no choice but to take that money from my cash game BR. All ended up fairly well though, we got absolutely hammered and put in at least 7 hours of craps and I ended up getting back to the room only $50 down. I consider this a HUGE win since I tipped well over $50 out of my stack and consumed plenty of free alcohol and it was an overall great time. Obviously ran above expectation since I am sure I would have been up sans tippage. Definitely some comp dollars will get kicked back for the effort.

The coolest thing that happened was Jordan shooting a 5 point fire winner when I walked away to call my gf. There was a girl at the table with $2 on the fire bet and she only had $25 in front of her. She had NO clue what the payout on the fire was and her reaction was priceless when I told he she was getting shipped $500. Jordan was shooting for the 6th point before he 7'd out. One more point and that girl makes $2k and another guy pulls $10k.

Jordan leaves tonight and my poker buddy, Hoops, comes in. So today will be mostly chilling, and I plan to get to bed at a reasonable time, get a workout in tomorrow morning, and be fully rested for my first WSOP event tomorrow. Its just me and Hoops for about a week so I definitely play to put in some serious hours. Craps is fun but its much nicer to play a game that can be beat :)

Flight Delay

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

Well my connecting flight to Chicago is delayed at least one hour so I will miss my connecting flight to Vegas. 0/1 for on time flights in the last four years. Hope I run better the rest of the week.

Tournament Schedule

Monday, June 15, 2009

Here is my tournament schedule for my two weeks in Vegas so far. The two WSOP events are set in stone. I plan to play three deepstack Venetians, but the days may change and I may play more if I run well in anything.

Saturday, 6/20: $1500 WSOP Event #39
Tuesday, 6/23: $330 Deepstack Venetian III
Wednesday 6/24: $330 Deepstack Venetian III
Saturday: 6/27: $1500 WSOP Event #51
Monday: 6/29: $330 Deepstack Venetian III

I also have a minimum of $3000 set aside for 2/5 NLHE cash games.

In case you want action...

I am selling action at par for the two WSOP events I am registered for, in case anyone is interested. I am limiting the total I sell to 15%, and I have sold 5% so far. Below are the details...

- I am pre-registered for two WSOP events, #39 and #51. Both are $1500 buyin, full ring, no limit holdem tournaments.

- I am selling 1% shares of my action for $30 each. The 1% action will be for exactly 1% of the combined payout amount for events #39 and #51. There is no fee added for expenses.

- Taxes: Two options

1. Once I cash you will have to provide me your social security number. I will fill out IRS Form 5754. This form will state the amount of money I am sending to you. You will then be responsible for claiming this money as taxable income, if applicable. This makes it so I do not pay tax on the money I send to you, and therefore allows me to send you a full 1%.

2. If you are uncomfortable disclosing your SSN, you may choose to instead just have me withhold whatever I think I will reasonable need to cover the tax I pay on the portion I gave to you. This would be a minimum of 0% (most likely on a min-cash) up to a maximum of 35%.

I strongly suggest option 1.

- If I happen to miss an event, you will be entitled to a refund of your full investment, or the 1% cut from the event I actually played, whichever is greater.

- I accept payment (most preferred to least preferred) through: Full Tilt transfer, PayPal, Check, Cash. I must receive the funds before cards are in the air for #39 or there is no deal.

- If I cash an event, I will make payment to you as soon as possible, but I will allow myself up to 60 days to make payment if necessary. I will make payment through PayPal or check, whichever you prefer.
